The Stanchion is stitched down: the upper is turned out at the feather edge and sewn through to the midsole, so the sole can be replaced twice without touching the upper. That construction is why it is the heaviest and the dearest shoe on this page. The upper is vegetable-tanned leather that starts stiff and takes about three weeks of walking to sit right, and the collar and heel tab are a darker temper of the same hide. The drop is 12 mm over a stacked leather and rubber midsole with a lugged rubber outsole. Oxblood is a dark red-brown that deepens with wear, Tar black stays black. It is cut in one size grade only, EU 40 to 45. Feed it before the first winter.
