A sett is the small granite block a road used to be paved with, and this is the plainest shoe we make. Twelve-ounce cotton canvas upper, suede on the toe and the heel counter where a canvas shoe gives out first, and a vulcanised rubber sole bonded in a mould rather than glued in a press. The drop is 8 mm and the sole is thin on purpose: you feel the pavement through it. Chalk is an undyed off-white that marks in the first week and then settles down. The Tar black is piece-dyed after cutting. It runs about a half size large, so take the smaller size if you are between. Machine washable at 30 degrees with the insole out.
